Regency
Well, here I am in my pajamas....wait, my English Regency Dress. This was a last minute costume to replace another that had not panned out. I had been working on the hat for some time, and just needed a dress to wear under it. This was an amalgam of Simplicity and Butterwick patterns, and isn't even close to accurate.
The hat, however, is another story. This was my first millinery experiment in a while. I remembered the technique about halfway through. It was a lot of fun to do, however. It is an 1830's poke bonnet, with reverse pleating on the brim. The decorations include silk roses and peonies, with ostrich feather accents.
Immediately after these pictures were taken, there was the humorous experience of chasing my hat through the parking lot.
As I had planned earlier, I (eventually) made made a pelisse out of a laveneder brushed rayon. And of course, like the dress, it was a last minute addition. I couldn't raise my arms, and the sleeves, unfortunately, had to be safety pinned on to the dress to say up. Houwever, through the use of triple box pleating in the back, I managed to get a wonderful fall along the back with about five yards of fabric. Of course, I don't have a picture.
The pictures below were taken at the Le Bal des Vampyres...not the most conductive to quality costume pictures. As all costumes, I eventually plan to rework the costume, and take better pictures!
