Peacock Victorian Dress from Original
Completed For: Peacock Tails
Worn At: Peacock Tails Family vacation in Alaska on a paddlewheel boat
Awards Won:
The Greater Bay Area Costumer's Guild was hosting a bustle event at the San Francisco Golden Gate Park Conservatory to honor it's founding. Because the park is known for it's peacocks, the event was called Peacock Tails. I happened to have a million yards of teal satin I had purchased years ago, and had never gotten around to completing a bustle dress. The challenge was on. As always, I finished the hat first. A year or so later, my family went on a paddlewheel boat in Alaska. It seemed like the perfect time to trot my dress out again. Not only was the boat beautifully decorated to look like 1880's, most of the places we visited hadn't changed much from their frontier days.
